Year in Review

Found this on another blog and thought I'd give it a try.....

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I learned how to make homemade jelly!

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't, and I haven't.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? YES! I did (Trevor was born May 1st) and several of my friends had babies too!

4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit? Canada

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? More space for our family of 5!

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? May 1 - Trevor was born.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Maintaining my sanity :)

9. What was your biggest failure? There are many....

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No major illnesses. My recovery from carrying/having Trevor was much harder and longer than anticipated, but God is good!

11. What was the best thing you bought? My dishwasher - Thanks Mom and Dad Gearhart!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Our teens - many times, but especially at/after camp. I find myself bursting with love and joy that we actually get to watch them change and grow spiritually.

13. Where did most of your money go? The mortgage, the utilities...where else?

14. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Our trip to the Wilds for the Youth Worker's Conference in March. We're hoping to go back this year.

15. What song will always remind you of 2007? Wonderful, Merciful Savior

16. Compared to this time last year, are you:happier or sadder? Neither, really.

17. What do you wish you'd done more of? Laugh, play with my kids.

18. What do you wish you'd done less of? Been frustrated over things I cannot change.

19. What was your favorite TV program? 24....Jack Bauer is awesome.

20. What was the best book you read? Pretense by Lori Wick - this was a rare re-read for me...but very good.

21. What was your favorite film of this year? Don't have one.

22. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? Simple. The first half of the year was Maternity clothes, the last half was trying to get out of them!

23. What kept you sane? My trips to the grocery store, coffee, keeping in touch and confiding in friends near and far.

24. What political issue stirred you the most? I don't know that any ONE stirred me....

Our words

It is easy to be short-sighted in life. It seems that we often look deeper only when faced by trials. Why is that? Why do we only examine where we are truly at when we are faced with frustration, adversity or failure?

I've been prepping today for small groups tonight and we'll be talking about the tongue. What damage has been done by careless words! I hope to help my girls understand that we can NEVER get back what has been said...good or bad. Our words make more of an impact than we can ever know.

Spend a little time here.....grab your tissues!

A few posts back, my friend Ruth left a comment to check out Confessions of a CF Husband. I spent some time the other day reading through the story of Nathan, Tricia and Gwyneth. Grab a cup of coffee (and your kleenex) and head over there. Read the story of this amazing couple and how they have trusted God. It is amazing. Then....pray for them.
I do not know these people. But, I CAN pray for them!

I Like Mike! - I Like Mike!

The Michigan primary is this Tuesday, January 15th. So far, I like what I see from Mike Huckabee and his campaign. Is he perfect? No. But I do like where he stands on several issues and I'll be voting for him on Tuesday.

Not sure? Check out Mike Huckabee's Site where you can learn all the facts and make an informed decision.

Get out and vote!

My cup (or diaper bag) runneth over.....

Okay, so I posted before about using Target's web coupons and buying loads of wipes for well....keep reading. Well, buckle your seatbelt and fasten your chinstrap or at the very least, sit down. Have I got news for you!

Yesterday and today I went back to Target, armed with more coupons. My goal was to stock up for myself, get some for my missionary friend, Debbie, and put some in the church nursery. Here are the totals....

43 packs of wipes (40 count)
9 packs of wipes (16 count)
4 tubs of wipes (64 count)
3 bottles of baby wash
1 tub of kids' flushable wipes

That's 60 total items (or 2104 baby wipes!!!) that would have been $94.94 without any coupons. BUT, with 30 Target coupons and 7 manufacturers coupons the Grand Total for all was $-1.06! Yes, they were FREE!!! I bought other things during one trip, so that $1.06 will be on Camden's back come fall in the form of a polo shirt for school (also on clearance and ended up being 92 cents).
Thanks, Target. You're my favorite store! Thanks to Angie at BabyCheapskate and Heather at Freebies4Mom for keeping me up on all the deals!

New Blog Feature - Music!

I've added a cool new feature that I found on a friend's blog.....MUSIC! It has probably already started playing....don't worry Val...just scroll down and hit the pause button if you're at work :)

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this new feature. I have put songs on my playlist that I like, but that in no way means I like EVERYTHING that EACH artist has done. Please just take the list for what it's worth. Thanks!

New Look

Okay, so I know the title of my blog is Our Little Blue Heaven....but there is a LOT of blue in my house, and very little pink. So, I've changed to pink for a while to spruce things up a bit.

I've edited my links over there on the right and may add some more in the coming days. Check them out!

Here are some photos from Christmas. Enjoy!

Christmas morning, in front of the tree.
